“It is rare that I have an instantaneous attraction to a painter’s work. Most of the time I like to analyze, examine and relate to a particular piece before I can fully appreciate its fundamental nature. It is such a pleasure when every so often a piece of art can simply captivate my awareness, allow me to explore within its substance, and make a lasting impression. Karli Peres is someone who embodies these qualities not only on canvas but in real life as well.Karli is a native of New Orleans whose ethnic background consists of being half Filipino and half Italian/Irish. What a combination, huh? She graduated from Mt. Carmel high school and began her college career at UNO studying pre-nursing and exercise physiology. For five or six years she worked as a personal trainer and then decided to make the jump into fine arts at UNO…..Besides her family for inspiration, Karli finds organic shapes and basic color her main elements to work with. She pulls from her interest in physiology by using organic material, such as cells and muscle fibers from the human body, as her subject matter. The result is a visually stimulating piece that conducts a highly sensual feeling toward the viewer translating it to be both sophisticated and playful at the same time. The overall connotation behind her work directs the viewer to contemplate oneself physically, emotionally, philosophically and spiritually.I’m anticipating Karli Peres to be a highlight of the future art scene. All she needs is a large canvas (because size does matter), moral support (bottles of wine) and a killer wardrobe (she needs something for all of her solo art openings). This has been your local spotlight artist…..” – Rick Heno
